A Guide to Remote Working for Realtors

It is no secret that the coronavirus pandemic has largely shifted the way people work and go about their job. As the virus started to spread at an alarming rate, a whopping 88% of business organizations worldwide mandated or encouraged all their employees to work from home. While this shift to remote working was sudden and disruptive at first, many have started to embrace it, including real estate agents.

See how you can also make remote working work for you in the real estate business:

Embrace technology

When our options to meet face-to-face are limited, technology becomes a solution now more than ever. As a real estate agent, if you cannot get in touch with your prospects face-to-face, use technology to bridge the communication. If an email or text does not give you an “in” with your client, try using video conference services such as Zoom, Google Meet, or other similar platforms to “meet” each other online and build trust.

These unprecedented times also fw-bold the importance of having your own website. Whether you are running an established real estate agency or as a freelance agent, a website gives you leverage to reach more audience and drive leads into your pipeline. It also gives you a centralized place to show your properties in a proper online gallery, which is a good thing considering the lack of in-person viewing options.

Offer virtual open house or video walkthroughs

To help with the limited options to hold an open house or viewing, consider offering a virtual open house or video walkthroughs to your clients. There are now many apps and services that provide help with 3D virtual tours, but if you are not ready to commit to investing in such a service you can start by creating video walkthroughs. This way, you can show houses to your clients and add comments and explanations as you go along. All you need is a phone and a steady hand.

Stay connected

Working remotely can at times make you feel alone and isolated. But the good news is that many others are going through this same experience, so you are definitely not alone. During these times it is important to stay connected with others through different means and channels. Social media could be a great way to connect with clients while raising brand awareness at the same time. If you have staff or colleagues to connect with, make sure to also communicate clearly and effectively to prevent misunderstandings that could potentially occur with the lack of in person meetings.

Effective time management

If you can master time management, then you will be well on your way to success in working remotely. To do this, it is important to plan your days ahead and stick to it. Set goals for yourselves, and try to resist the seductive calls of your comfy couch, at least until you earn your well deserved break after reaching your goals.

If you find time management to be a constant challenge for you, consider investing in tools to help you better manage your time. A real estate CRM software, for example, can help you with this as it automates many tasks that are otherwise time consuming.
